This poem is a sharp indictment of how the words and actions of those in positions of national leadership can erode a country’s dignity, values, and even the global order. Language, which should connect people and nations, is instead wielded here as a tool of division and destruction. Through depictions of vulgar speech, deceitful conduct, and self-righteous power, the poem questions the responsibility and integrity required to truly represent a nation.
“Profanation”
A filthy mouth spits out abhorrent words.
It degrades a nation’s culture.
It reduces a nation’s civilization to nothing.
It mocks a nation’s faith.
It declares a nation’s destruction.
A tainted heart repeats words devoid of dignity.
It reduces a people’s pride to ashes.
It breaks a constitution and threatens without shame.
It feeds private greed under the shield of national interest.
It claims to prioritize a nation, yet becomes a threat to the world.
A corrupted past gives rise to senseless words.
An unfit, deceit-ridden figure as a nation’s representative.
A self-righteous presence unable to reflect the people’s will.
A figure surrounded by cronies, distributing profit to the powerful.
A failure that drives a nation back into dangerous barbarism.
Words that cannot challenge false righteousness are cast aside.
A nation falls silent under thoughtless control.
A nation splits amid hostile divisions.
A nation is ruled by unapproved wars and authoritarian power.
Unless it seeks those who truly care for its future, it will fall.
