Finding Delight

This poem explores a way of living through the simple yet profound idea of “finding things amusing.”
Beginning with the innocent playfulness of children, it gradually turns toward aging, human relationships, and weariness with society, ultimately arriving at a gentle affirmation: even so, we must continue to live with curiosity and delight.
Without being consumed by seriousness, the poem quietly reveals the importance of preserving both playfulness and reflection in life.


 Finding Delight

A small child plays with pure joy.
Wordless voices are enough.
How enviable that world
where one becomes completely absorbed.
Lost in play without a care,
those lovable eyes say everything.
It is good to delight in things.

With a scowling face,
nothing inspiring comes forth.
Images are sometimes better than words.
To solve difficult problems,
one must not be bound too tightly.
Wandering thoughts can become inspiration.
A sudden flash of insight
makes the heart dance.
It is good to enjoy such moments.

Counting one’s burdens
only leads to emptiness.
The spirit sinks deeper into discouragement.
Let us stop lamenting what cannot be done.
Let us admit we have struggled enough already.
Even if the body no longer moves freely,
the mind can still wander deeply.
Perhaps all we can do
is find delight in life.

Tedious social obligations become exhausting.
Yet we cannot completely sever our ties.
Being dragged into gossip is tiresome as well.
Keeping a certain distance
has its own wisdom.
There is no need to agonize
over meaningless relationships.
Perhaps it is enough
to simply take them lightly and enjoy them.

I am weary
of this gloomy world.
I have neither the means nor the power
to change it.
Harsh words alone
pierce the heart.
What troubles me most
is the tomorrow awaiting children.
So let us guide them
into the world of fairy tales,
where hope may still be entrusted.
All I can do
is write while finding delight in it.
